Ae Adventure would like to introduce you to the best mountain biking in the Sierra Nevada with a week of cross country riding in the south of Spain.
The area is known as Las Alpujarras and words can’t do the riding any justice here. You just need to come and sample it to discover why many of our previous guests don’t just come once! You stay in the Ae Adventure base right on the edge of the Sierra Nevada national park and to access the trails you step out of the front door, get on your mountain bike and ride. The toughest choice you have to make is which trails to go on!
You get to experience incredible single track, cruise along high forest trails, take in high mountain passes, ride through the narrow streets of the traditional white pueblo villages of the area and much, much more.
On an Ae Adventure all inclusive week you get to discover something different every day. You’ll meet and ride with like minded people and enjoy the stunning scenery of the area to the max. We’ll make sure you see plenty of it!
You’ll get picked up from the airport and if you’re on the morning flight then you get the added bonus of getting out for a ride on the day you arrive. The route from the airport (Malaga or Granada) takes you over a high mountain pass and into Las Alpujarras. You’ll stop at the top of the pass, get on your bike (or use one of our hire fleet bikes) and head off from the pass to the Ae Adventure Base, Casa Escocia. What a way to arrive at your home for the next week!
The Ae Adventure Mountain Villa is set up for bikers. The rooms are all very comfortable and there is plenty space around the villa for you to kick back and relax when you’re not out on your bike. The south facing terrace is always a favourite spot or if you want to stay out of the sun you can stick your ipod into the docking station in upstairs living room and listen to your favourite tunes. There’s a secure bike store if you bring your own steed with you.
The Ae Adventure support team are a great bunch and they are on hand to make sure all your needs are taken care of whilst you are on your mountain biking holiday. All you need to worry about is when to get up and out on your bike. Our guides, cooks, driver & masseuse are all here to make your holiday a special experience.
We’ve been running trips here for 4 years now and we’ve got to know the area fairly well in that time! The routes you’ll ride will see you take in the best the area has to offer. Every day you’ll discover somewhere new and there’s a good chance your riding skills will improve as you explore the varied terrain of the area on bikes. We'll ensure that no matter what your level of riding is you'll have a great time. Many of the routes we use are on good trails which cater for all abilities. How fast you go is up to you and there's never any pressure for you to push yourself beyond what you are comfortable with, unless you want to of course!! Some days will be easier and shorter, others can be as hard as you want but we always make sure that you get the most out of your time in the Sierra Nevada. Generally you’ll ride for 3 or 4 hours a day with perhaps the odd slightly longer day thrown in. It all depends on what you’re after. We’ve found this to be suitable for most people as the heat combined with the altitude and the terrain of the area, make this a good and challenging day out for most bikers.
You get a lot for your money on an Ae Adventure all inclusive holiday and the food is always exceptional. Just see our guest book for an ongoing list of “amazing food” comments! You get to eat in most nights and sample the delights that the Ae Adventure chef will serve up. We use several different chefs who live locally to prepare your gourmet meals. Two nights you’ll also get to head out and try the local delicacies and we’ll point you in the right direction of the best local eateries in the village. There is a free bar on all our trips and we’ll keep a good level of beer and wine stocked up for you throughout the week.
Back to the mountain biking and we always like to finish the week off with a big downhill blast. We’ll take you to one of the high passes where you’ll hit the trails for a serious dose of downhill action that will send you home with a huge smile across your face!

Sometimes you’ll start and finish at Casa Escocia, other times you’ll start or finish elsewhere and Iain, the Ae Adventure support driver, will organise your pick ups and drop offs. He is always a welcome sight at the end of any big rides!
Another major bonus of booking with Ae Adventure is our access to the areas best massage therapist. Natasha will be on hand most afternoons if your muscles are a bit tired or sore after mountain biking. She can work wonders and will have you back on your saddle in no time ready for the next days riding.
There’s plenty to do at night and most guests either chill out in Casa Escocia or head down into one of the village bars. There are some great traditional tapas bars nearby as well a choice of restaurants.
